The Mexican Journal of Phytopathology (MJP) is an open access, non-commercial journal, which guarantees free cost to readers and partially to authors. To guarantee this policy, sustained funding comes from the Mexican Society of Phytopathology (MSP). However, it requires supplemental funding strictly for editorial purposes. Other sources of funding come directly from authors only when their contribution has been approved.
The MSP, through membership and conference fees, finances editorial-technical staff services, management and web server, computer equipment, software license, domain license, and DOI/CROSSREF registrations.
In MJP, Editors and Peer Reviewers perform their function Ad Honorem, so that their respective institutions of Higher Education, Public Research Centers, and government institutions finance the time dedicated to these activities, as well as the required infrastructure.
The Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (SECIHTI, in Spanish) of the Mexican government, formerly CONAHCYT, has contributed to the development and strengthening of MJP through financing, by grant competition, for edition of Special Issues and Supplements, digital services, and web developments. Periods: 2000 - 2010, 2020 – 2024.
